Methods of Strategic Trade Analysis:

Data-Driven Approaches to Detect Illicit Dual-Use Trade

Intended to fill an analysis gap by bringing successful criminal-, intelligence-, and data-driven techniques to the strategic trade control environment. Targeted toward those interested in identifying and disrupting illicit strategic trade, export control violations, and sanctions evasion – whether you only have access to publicly available information or confidential international trade data.

Includes walkthroughs of identifying transaction red flags, mirror statistics, estimating transshipment/re-exports, machine learning techniques, and network analysis. The book also discusses how to operationalize these methods to improve strategic trade control enforcement and outreach efforts.
